I was walking around Hayes Valley the other day looking for a good brunch spot and low and behold, we pass by Breezy’s, one of the places on my list to try! The lunch menu looked decent enough to give it a shot! Breezy’s is fairly new and occupies a pretty good size space. The decor is modern with a long bar area and seating in the front and in the back. We took a spot right next to the window which was pleasant with the warm breeze flowing in (no pun intended).
The lunch menu had an assortment of appetizers, salads, sandwiches, and pastas. Several of the salads and appetizers caught our eye. We started off with the lamb and gruyere meatballs. These were juicy and delicious. although served over a bed of couscous (ick). I had the cobb salad which had chopped up romaine lettuce, blue cheese, avocado, sieved egg whites, bacon, and little pieces of fried chicken. The ingredients itself were really fresh but together I think it all lacked flavor. Maybe the dressing needed some oomph or maybe just some salt. The short rib sandwich looked divine when it arrived. Served with matchstick fries, the meat was shredded in tender pieces and had a sauce oozing from the sides. Unfortunately, it didn’t taste as awesome as it looked.
I’m glad I got a chance to try out Breezy’s. For lunch it was just OK but I would definitely reconsider my cupcake rating after going back for dinner. The truffle mac and cheese with Spanish chorizo ($7), the black trumpet truffle risotto ($17), and the rib eye au poivre ($25) sound tasty!
