Isa

I haven’t been to Isa for over a year but was delighted to see some of my favorites still on the menu. Husband, Luke Sung and wife are cooking up asian fusion small plates in an elegant dining setting. The outdoor patio in the back is lovely and would recommend eating out there if there is availability.

The menu offers a variety of salads, soups, seafood, and meat. I love coming with a group of 4 to be able to try more. I know they used to offer a prix fixe menu before 6:30pm. They’ve stepped up their weeknight game and offer a great prix fixe menu Mon-Thursday. Patrons can choose from a dozen options for 1st and 2nd course for only $22.95. If you add dessert, this could almost be an on-going Dine About Town menu! The thing I love about Isa is the creativity and quality of each dish. There are probably only 2 things on the entire menu I wouldn’t be too fancy about. To me, that makes for a great menu!

We started off with the butter lettuce salad with pancetta, candied walnuts and blue cheese. That was a great salad to start off with. I’ve had the baked goat cheese and soups before and they are both good. Next we had the seared yellowfin tuna with artichokes, capers, tomatoes, and fennel. The fennel added a great texture and balance to the acidity of the capers. We didn’t manage to try any of the pastas but the mushroom risotto is rich and decadent. The day boat scallops with truffle poached asparagus and potato puree and baked butterfish with truffles were two dishes we didn’t get to try. Now onto the meat! The sweetbreads were fantastic! They were in this rich sauce with mushrooms and over a potato puree. The rocky jr. chicken, I think, is the one of the best chickens in town. It’s a tiny little bird, juicy and tender, with a super crispy skin. I’ve also had the duck breast and flat iron steaks that are winners as well.

For dessert, we cleansed our palatte with vanilla bean gelato with biscotti and a latte. Wine list is modest. Service is friendly and attentive.
